Clear Aligners in Reston, VA

If you want straighter teeth but the thought of metal braces has held you back, clear aligners offer a discreet, comfortable way to get there. At Reston Serenity Smiles, we provide CandidPro clear aligners, a dentist-directed system that Dr. Majid Dastgir oversees from your first scan to your final result. You get modern, nearly invisible treatment with the reassurance of a local dentist who actually knows your mouth, right here in Reston.

This page explains how clear aligners work, what they can fix, how they compare to braces, what they cost in the Reston area, and what treatment with us is really like. If you would rather just talk it through, call or text 571-313-8415 to book a consultation.

What CandidPro clear aligners are

CandidPro is a clear aligner system that uses a series of custom-made, transparent trays to move your teeth into better positions over time. Instead of brackets and wires, you wear a set of smooth plastic aligners that fit snugly over your teeth and are nearly invisible when you smile.

Each aligner is designed from a digital plan of your teeth to apply gentle, controlled pressure to specific teeth. Every week or two you move to the next tray in the series, and your teeth shift a little closer to their final position. What sets CandidPro apart from mail-order aligners is dentist oversight: Dr. Dastgir plans your case, checks that your teeth and gums are healthy first, and monitors your progress, so you are never straightening your teeth without a professional watching the details.

Problems clear aligners can correct

Clear aligners work well for a wide range of mild to moderate alignment issues, including:

  • Crowded teeth that overlap or twist
  • Gaps and spaces between teeth
  • Crooked or rotated teeth
  • Mild overbite, underbite, or crossbite
  • Teeth that have shifted after previous braces

More complex bite problems may still need traditional braces or a combination of treatments, and we will tell you honestly if that is the case. A consultation is the only way to know for certain whether clear aligners will get you the result you want.

Why straight teeth matter beyond looks

Most people come in for the cosmetic change, and a straighter smile is a wonderful thing. But alignment also affects your health. Straight teeth are easier to brush and floss, which lowers your risk of decay and gum disease. A balanced bite spreads chewing forces evenly, reducing uneven wear and strain on your jaw. In other words, straightening your teeth is an investment in keeping them, not just in how they look.

Teeth straightening for adults and teens

Clear aligners have made orthodontic treatment realistic for people who would never have considered metal braces. Working adults like that the trays are nearly invisible in meetings and photos, and that there are no wires to explain or hide. Parents of teens like that there is nothing sharp to cut a lip before a game or a school photo, and that the aligners come out for sports and instruments.

Because you remove them to eat and clean your teeth, aligners fit around real life rather than interrupting it. There is no list of foods to avoid and no awkward brushing around brackets. For many people in Reston, that combination of discretion and convenience is what finally makes straightening their teeth something they will actually follow through on.

Clear aligners vs traditional braces

Both braces and clear aligners move teeth effectively. The right choice comes down to your goals, your lifestyle, and the complexity of your case.

Clear aligners are often preferred for:

  • Appearance, because the trays are nearly invisible
  • Eating whatever you like, since you remove the aligners for meals
  • Easier brushing and flossing, with no brackets to work around
  • Comfort, with no metal edges to irritate your cheeks and lips

Traditional braces may still be the better tool for severe crowding, large bite corrections, or complex tooth movements. During your consultation we will give you a straight answer about which option fits your case, even if that answer is braces.

What clear aligners cost in Reston

Clear aligner treatment is an investment, and we believe in being upfront about it. In our published guide to clear aligner costs in Virginia, treatment typically ranges from about $3,000 to $8,000, depending on how much movement your teeth need and how long you are in treatment.

What moves the price within that range:

  • How complex your case is and how many aligners it takes
  • How long your treatment lasts
  • Whether any dental work is needed before you start
  • The retainers you wear afterward to hold the result

After your consultation you get a written estimate, so you know the full cost before you commit. Many dental plans include some orthodontic benefit that can offset the cost, and we are a Delta Dental Premier provider who files out-of-network claims for most other plans. For the balance, we offer flexible payment plans through Cherry. See our insurance and financing page for details.

How CandidPro treatment works, step by step

Treatment is straightforward, and most of it happens in your daily routine rather than in the dental chair.

Consultation and digital scan

Dr. Dastgir examines your teeth and gums, confirms you are a good candidate, and takes a digital scan to create a 3D model of your smile. From that model we map out how your teeth will move and roughly how long it will take.

Your custom aligners arrive

Your aligners are made to that plan. We fit the first set, show you how to insert and remove them, and answer your questions before you start.

Wearing your aligners

You wear each aligner 20 to 22 hours a day, taking them out only to eat, drink anything other than water, brush, and floss. Every one to two weeks you move to the next set. Consistent wear is the single biggest factor in staying on schedule, because teeth only move while the aligners are in.

Check-ins and monitoring

Because CandidPro is dentist-directed, we monitor your progress along the way and see you for periodic check-ins, which are usually shorter and less frequent than the monthly tightening visits braces require. If anything is not tracking as planned, we catch it early and adjust.

Your responsibilities during treatment

Clear aligners hand you more freedom than braces, and with it a little more responsibility. Your results depend heavily on you:

  • Wear the aligners the full 20 to 22 hours a day. Leaving them out too long slows everything down.
  • Keep them clean by rinsing and gently brushing them, and avoid hot water, which can warp the plastic.
  • Brush and floss before putting them back in, so you are not sealing food and bacteria against your teeth.
  • Keep your check-ins so we can make sure your teeth are moving as planned.

How long treatment takes

Treatment length depends on how far your teeth need to move. Mild cases can finish in as little as six months, while moderate cases often run twelve to eighteen months. More complex movement takes longer. The most reliable way to shorten your treatment is simple: wear your aligners as directed, every day.

Attachments and refinements

Some cases need small tooth-colored attachments, little bumps bonded to certain teeth that give the aligners something to grip so they can make specific movements. They are subtle and usually hard to notice. Near the end of treatment, a few refinement aligners are sometimes used to fine-tune the final result so everything settles into place.

Retainers: keeping your new smile

Once your teeth are where you want them, retainers hold them there. Teeth naturally try to drift back over time, so wearing a retainer, usually at night, is what protects the investment you just made. We will fit your retainers and explain exactly how to use them when you finish.

Clear aligners and a fuller smile makeover

Straightening is often the first step in a larger plan. Once your teeth are aligned, many patients choose to whiten them or add a veneer or two for the finishing touch, and aligned teeth make that cosmetic work look better and last longer. Explore our teeth whitening and cosmetic dentistry options, or ask us to map out a combined plan.

Are you a candidate?

Most teens and adults with mild to moderate alignment issues are candidates for clear aligners, as long as their teeth and gums are healthy. Good candidates:

  • Have healthy teeth and gums, with any decay or gum disease treated first
  • Are missing no more than minor to moderate corrections
  • Are willing to wear the aligners the full 20 to 22 hours a day

If clear aligners are not the right fit, we will tell you and walk through the alternatives. We welcome patients from Reston, Herndon, Great Falls, Vienna, Oakton, McLean, Sterling, Ashburn, and Chantilly, along with the surrounding Northern Virginia communities. Call or text 571-313-8415, or book through our contact page.

Why choose a Reston dentist for your clear aligners

Mail-order aligner companies skip the one thing that protects your teeth: a dentist who examines you in person. With CandidPro at Reston Serenity Smiles, Dr. Dastgir checks that your teeth and gums are healthy before you start, plans the movement himself, and is here in person if anything needs adjusting. If a tooth is not tracking, or you develop a problem mid-treatment, you have a local office to walk into rather than a support line to email.

You also get continuity. The same dentist who straightens your teeth can whiten them, place a filling, or handle a cleaning, all in one Reston office. That is a very different experience from shipping impressions to a lab you will never meet.

Common questions about clear aligners

Are clear aligners as effective as braces?

For mild to moderate alignment problems, clear aligners are very effective and can achieve results comparable to braces. For severe crowding or complex bite issues, braces may still be the better tool. The honest answer for your specific teeth comes from a consultation.

How much do clear aligners cost in Reston?

Treatment typically ranges from about $3,000 to $8,000 depending on the complexity and length of your case. You get a written estimate before you start, and we offer payment plans through Cherry to make it manageable.

How long will my treatment take?

Mild cases can take about six months, while moderate cases often run twelve to eighteen months. Wearing your aligners the full 20 to 22 hours a day is the best way to stay on schedule.

Is CandidPro the same as Invisalign?

They are different brands of clear aligner. Our practice provides CandidPro, a dentist-directed system overseen by Dr. Dastgir from start to finish. Both use clear, removable trays to straighten teeth; the treatment you receive here is CandidPro.

Do clear aligners hurt?

You can expect mild pressure or tenderness for a day or two each time you switch to a new aligner, which is a sign your teeth are moving. Most patients describe it as very manageable, and it settles quickly.

Will I need to wear a retainer afterward?

Yes. Teeth naturally drift over time, so wearing a retainer, usually at night, is essential to keep your new smile in place after treatment.

A quick CandidPro Q&A

Will I need to see my doctor for follow-up appointments?

You’ll share progress updates with your doctor digitally, so most of your treatment can be completed from home. If they spot an issue when reviewing your progress updates, they’ll ask that you come in to assess the issue in person.

How does promonitoring™ app work?

You’ll download ProMonitoring™ app to your smartphone and use a ScanBox Pro (included with your treatment) to share photos of your smile with your doctor every few weeks. It’s a simple process that can be completed from anywhere life takes you.

What if I need help?

If you lose an aligner or aren’t sure what to do, use the live chat feature in ProMonitoring™ app for advice on what to do next.

What happens at the end of treatment?

If you and your doctor are happy with your results, your doctor will likely prescribe a retention device or additional aligners if your smile still needs some improvement.
