Transform Your Smile With Dental Implants
Are you tired of living with the inconveniences of missing teeth? Do you feel like taking out your dentures and never having to put them back in again? If you’re ready for a lasting solution to a missing tooth or multiple missing teeth, consider dental implants as the next best thing to natural teeth.
Today’s dental implant technology can give you back what you’ve lost due to missing, damaged, or decayed teeth. Do you lack confidence in your smile? Are you unable to eat the foods you love? Do you worry about your dentures shifting when you eat and talk? Are missing teeth starting to affect your overall dental health?
Look no further than one of modern dentistry’s most common treatments. Dental implant benefits are many and include more than just improving your appearance:
As Natural As You Can Get
There is no other dental treatment that can give you as close a look and feel to natural teeth as dental implants. The implant is positioned into your jawbone. An abutment connects the implant to the replacement tooth, known as a dental crown. The crown is custom made to fit in with your natural teeth, including matching the shade of your teeth.
The implant is permanent and will feel and function like natural teeth. You can chew, talk, and smile freely. There is no extra care other than brushing, flossing, and regular checkups needed to manage your implants, either.
Maintain Appearance
When you have a missing tooth or multiple teeth, there is nothing in your jawbone to stimulate growth. As a result, your body will begin to dissolve the bone, and deterioration of the facial structure will occur. You’ll wind up looking much older than you are. Implants will stop this decline in your appearance by filling in the missing teeth and protecting your jawbones.
Support Dental Health
Missing teeth can have serious negative oral health consequences, as well as increase the risk of major diseases. The issues starts with periodontal disease, otherwise known as gum disease. Periodontal disease is caused by a bacterial infection that when left untreated, can lead to serious health issues such as heart attacks, strokes, Alzheimer’s disease and other chronic diseases.
Missing teeth can also affect your healthy natural teeth. When gaps are left untreated, the teeth next to the gaps can start to shift out of place, causing pain as well as issues with your bite.
Not treating missing teeth affects more than just your appearance. Given the compromise it has on your overall health, you shouldn’t leave this dental issue to chance.
Easy Care
Unlike dentures, which require messy adhesives and cleaning tables, implants are cared for just like natural teeth. You can brush them and floss between teeth. As always, make sure to keep up with your regular checkups.
Well-Being
What if you didn’t have to worry about what to eat, like you do with dentures? What if you could smile confidently without concern? What if you could wake up, brush your teeth, and start your day without having to deal with the hassle of carefully cleaning your bridge? Would you like to have a sense of freedom you don’t enjoy currently because of missing teeth or cumbersome dentures or bridges? Implants give you a part of your life back that you didn’t realize you were missing.
Without the stress of dealing with dentures or hiding a missing tooth, you can get on with your life.
Dental Implant Treatment
While each implant treatment is customized to the patient, here are the general steps that you can expect:
Initial consultation:
The dentist will meet with you to take images of your teeth and discuss the different implant options. A plan will then be developed for your particular implant treatment and surgery.
Implant placement:
At the next visit, the dentist will place the implant in the jawbone where the tooth is missing. A local anesthesia or IV sedation is used to keep you relaxed and comfortable during the procedure. After the procedure, minor discomfort may occur and can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication.
Healing:
After the implant procedure, the implant and jawbone will heal and grow together in a process called osseointegration. This will form a strong and lasting foundation for the replacement tooth. The healing process can take up to a few months. Temporary teeth may be placed at this time, but this is something that will be discussed between you and your dentist.
Abutment:
Once the implant bonds with your jaw, a connector, or abutment, will be placed in the implant. This is used to connect the replacement tooth with the implant.
Replacement teeth:
After your jawbone has healed, replacement teeth, known as crowns, will be made and placed on the implant. The crowns will function and feel just like your natural teeth.
